Delivering Housing and Urban Regeneration through a Brownfield First Approach
Katy Bourne OBE (Sussex, Police and Crime Commissioner )
Chaired by Nicola Richards (Cratus Group , Director of Government Engagement and former MP for West Bromwich East)
Nick Cuff (Urban Sketch Ltd. , Managing Director and founder )
As the UK faces a deepening housing crisis, the need to deliver new homes while reviving underused urban areas has never been more urgent. This panel will explore how a brownfield-first approach can unlock regeneration, make better use of existing infrastructure and protect valued greenfield land — while recognising the practical challenges of bringing complex, constrained and often costly sites back into productive use. Drawing on the experience of our panellists the discussion will bring together perspectives from planning, politics, policing, community safety and place-making to consider how brownfield development can help create more homes, stronger communities and renewed confidence in our towns and cities.
